The newly-crowned Miss Teen USA was allegedly the victim of a "sextortion" in which an individual hacked into the computer in her Temecula bedroom in order to obtain naked photos. Cassidy Wolf of Temecula told the media this week that she was targeted before she had been awarded her crown, and her mother, Mary Wolf, said the investigation into the allegations had been going on for some time, according to the Press-Enterprise. Wolf explained that "she received an anonymous email from someone claiming to have nude photos of her taken via the webcam on her computer," reports the L. The pageant winner said the extortion--aka sextortion--plot involved the suspect trying to get money from Wolf so that the photos would not be made public. Federal authorities revealed that Wolf and about a dozen other women were allegedly victimized by the individual. FBI spokesperson Laura Eimiller says the illegal activity is no longer taking place. Not deterred by the "sextortion" case, the reigning Miss Teen USA says she intends to discuss her experience in order to raise awareness of the issue.

Jared James Abrahams, 19 answered a series of questions from U. District Judge James Selna, including an explanation of the crimes that were committed. Abrahams pleaded guilty to three counts of extortion and one count of unauthorized computer access. Prosecutors say that over the past two years, Abrahams hacked into the computers of at least a dozen women in their late teens or early 20s from various states and countries, including Miss Teen USA Cassidy Wolf. Abrahams and Wolf went to high school together. Court records say he also sent the women anonymous emails telling them he had downloaded nude photos of them. If the women complied, Abrahams promised to destroy the images. Dressed in matching grey pants and shirt with a black jacket, Abrahams told the judge he has autism and has been under treatment for the past 10 years. Outside court, his attorney Alan Eisner said Abrahams apologizes for his actions, and that the autism played a contributing role in the scheme. She has spoken publically about the incident, saying she would use her fame to highlight cybercrime.
A teenage hacker accused of stealing more than 4, explicit photos of children faces more than years in jail. Cameron Brush, 18, pleaded not guilty to 25 new charges on Tuesday after he was indicted last week for sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual extortion and computer tampering in Mohave County Superior Court in Arizona. If convicted on all 25 charges, Brush faces from to years in jail. Although, because there were at least eight different victims, some of his sentences may run consecutive to each other, meaning the sentence must be completed for one offense before another one can begin. Brush was also charged in a case with ten counts related to the sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child sex abuse images.
That was followed by several naked images — presumed to be of Lovato — that were posted to the account and remained live for less than an hour, according to the Inquisitr. The hacker teased to the existence of a sex tape, with access given to those who signed up. Of course, in internet time, an hour might as well be eternity, and as of Friday screengrabs of the photos were still popping up randomly on social media.
